Chief of Staff
Pinwheel
People & HR, Operations
Austin, TX, USA
Pinwheel builds purpose-built technology for kids: the first smartphone designed for children, a kids' smartwatch, and a modern landline product. We're a profitable, growing consumer hardware and subscription company backed by investors who believe technology should serve families, not exploit them. We operate lean, move fast, and ship real product.
The InternshipThis is a high-ownership summer project working directly with the CEO to build Pinwheel's investor relations function from the ground up. You won't be fetching coffee or building decks no one reads. You'll be standing up the systems, narrative, and materials we'll use for our next round and for every investor conversation that follows.
By Labor Day, we'll have something we didn't have when you arrived. That's the deal.
What You'll BuildThe Investor Narrative
- Refresh the pitch deck end to end: story, structure, design, data
- Build the financial model and cap table scenarios we'll use in our next raise
- Develop the data room and standardize diligence materials
The Investor Operating System
- Stand up the investor CRM and contact strategy in Pipedrive
- Design the monthly investor update template and reporting cadence
- Build the target investor list for our next round with research-backed prioritization
A Strategic Deliverable
- One meaningful strategic analysis that goes to the board. Past examples might include competitive landscape mapping, pricing strategy, channel economics, or a category expansion thesis. We'll scope it together based on your interests and what the company needs.
- Current MBA student, ideally between first and second year
- Pre-MBA background in VC, PE, investment banking, consulting, or operating at a venture-backed company
- You write well. You can take a half-formed idea and turn it into something a sophisticated investor would respect
- You're comfortable with financial modeling, cap table mechanics, and the basics of how venture rounds work
- You have judgment. You know when to ask and when to just decide and move
- Consumer, hardware, or family/kids category interest is a plus
- Direct access to the CEO and board
- A real seat at the table during a pivotal growth stage
- A portfolio piece you can point to for the rest of your career
- Competitive intern compensation
- Austin in the summer (we'll let you decide if that's a perk)
